The Mysore class in Spirit Yoga is based on the teachings from KPJAYI (Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute) in MysoreIndia.

There are 6 mornings Mysore practice which includes 1 led class on Sunday in a week. (except new moon and full moon day)

We have practitioners whom have been practicing for years and also whom have just started the Mysore practice journey. So don’t be shy to join us if you are a newbie, as we were new just as you some time ago. If you are on the way somewhere already, you are also welcome to join us, as there is still a long way to explore.

The teaching way is the traditional Mysore style. Neither flexibility nor muscular strength is the requisite, instead consistency and patience is a must.  Student would be taught theAshtanga sequence step by step according to his/her ability, so everyone would have individual guidance from the teacher.  Take it easy yet sincerely, there is no pre- set goal, because we are not looking for something ahead to achieve, in contrast, quietly we dive more and more deeply to the inner direction.

I’m from Hong Kong.  I started my yoga journey since 2005 and was a full time yoga teacher in Hong Kong before coming to Osaka.  Besides teaching, I’m the same as you as a student, do daily Mysore practice.  And I return to the shala in Mysore India every year to study with our teacher R Sharath Jois, the director of KPJAYI, the grandson of K Pattabhi Jois.  My first Mysore trip was in 2011, grateful to have blessing and authorization to teach Ashtanga from Sharath ji in 2015.

Disciple and consistency needed for the practice just like soil for a sprout. Without soil, the sprout cannot grow. The components; Vinyasa and Tristhana of Ashtanga yoga just like the root of the sprout. The root is the foundation and a vital support for the sprout.  The deeper the root is grounded, the more solid base for the sprout to be a plant.  Years by years, the plant will be able to accommodate and to overcome the challenges during seasons and environment changes.  Many years later, the plant will become a tree to provide fruits and shelter for those in need generously.

Just like many of us, I wandered for a while in the beginning of the yoga journey, until i had decided to practice Ashtanga wholeheartedly and solely.  Now the practice becomes part of my life and I live with it everyday. Plainly be attention to the present moment, with the vision of goodness around us.

Message and Yoga Backfround
After years of yoga practice since 2005, I has explored yoga deeply, especially my passion for Ashtanga yoga. Since Ashtanga yoga requires tremendous diligence and dedication. It naturally led me to become immersed wholeheartedly into this ancient yoga system.

Out of respect of the lineage teaching of Ashtanga yoga, I traveled to Mysore in India in 2011 to study and practice with Sharth R Jois, the director of KPJAY. Since then I have returned to KPJAY annually in my commitment to the traditional Ashtanga practice. In the beginning of 2015, I received the blessing and authorization of Sharath R Jois to become a KPJAY Authorized Level 2 Ashtanga teacher.

I teach based on root foundation with an emphasis breath flow. And I believe that mastering this principal enables the harmony of body and mind. And through yoga, life is enriched in a meaningful and beautiful way.

9.pngSpirit Yoga studio is always my must-go every time I stop by Osaka. Students there are friendly & willing to offer help to foreigners. Also impressed by its Hong Kong teacher Rachel, she teaches & gives adjustment in detail.
Recommended to go particularly if you practicing Ashtanga regularly, you will like the morning Mysore class there.

It is important to follow an experienced teacher to practice
Mysore, because she knows your progress and body condition. Lucky, I met with Rachel 2years ago and she knows me so well and what I am missing and how to motivate me. I love the teacher who can give me energy and makes me always want to be back on mat and this is Rachel

Teacher Rachel considers the strengths and weaknesses of each of her students and teaches them individually in detail. She has steered me into the right direction by working to build a solid foundation for my practice.

Teacher Rachel always reminded us that ashtanga yoga is not only about nailing down different asanas, but more importantly facing your true self throughout the process. Under her guidance, I have been able to reflect on my weaknesses and become stronger through this ashtanga practice.

I am really thankful to have met Rachel!
